Nothing happens in haste in the Sandveld of South Africa. Not being manipulated or controlled, seasons change at their own pace, as nature intended. But when the Sandveld commits its nourishing soil to something, it is enduring and of value to its people. So it was 40 years ago, on a farm called "Die Oliene", in Eendekuil Kontrei, when the first rooibos tea plantation was planted by a boer called Francois Grobbler. Little did Francois know that his journeys would lead him to a partnership of visions. Together these gentlemen have grown a legacy of community empowerment, development of persons and their skills, and reinvesting this in the very community and soil from whence it came. From their shared vision, has sprouted a business & industry that forms the roots of the economy and employment of its closely woven community. The community growing in skill and strength with every leaf of “Day One” tea that leaves its loving hands. Each cup of "Day One" tea embarks on a journey from harvest on "Die Oliene", to packing by hand on Eendekuil, to your home; a joining of earth, communities and appreciators of this splendid amber nectar.
